Zhaoyi Ying is a director and writer who grew up in Shanghai, and now based in London and Shanghai.
Her theatre works were selected for Shanghai International Arts Festival and the Hong Kong Arts Festival, received five-star and four-star reviews at Edinburgh 2025. Her short films were selected to film festivals include Europe International Film Festival, FIRST International Film Festival and others. Her short film The Hot Pot was the winner of FIRST 2021 Short Short Film vivo Culture Award.
She is interested in female stories, underrepresented communities and other things that she cannot yet describe properly.
